Think and Act

I have been thinking about painting this for two or three weeks and yeepieeeeeeeeeeeee I started the first color last weekend. I know once I started I will finish it even there'll be some weekends I am not free but, I WILL STILL FINISH IT. Let's see how when it turns out, if it is nice enough to show I'll show. If it is not nice, I think I'll still show here for a record :-)

Let's Paint Again!

1) Sketch of apples using pencil
2) Use black and white to establish shadows aka light effects
3) Learned to use colors - sweet peppers/bell peppers/capsicums
4) My first idea - autumn leaves
5) Seagull at Skellig Island, Ireland - painted from a photo taken by me
6) My dream flower - mysterious Snow Drops
7) Trakai Castle at Lithuania - also painted from a photo taken by me

I have left painting for quite some time. It has been more than a year since I painted the last oil-paint piece! =.=

I had an Irish environment – cold air, people, alcohol and hot shower when I did my previous paintings. I love arts since I was in primary school so when I have a lot of spare time in Ireland, I signed myself up for a 3-month oil paint course at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). The students were adults of all ages. The teacher, Louise gave only two simple lessons – sketching objects with pencil (be observant on the size, space, distance and light effects) and mixing colours. That’s ALL about the course. The rest depends on your talent and practice to sharpen your skills. It’s the same for all types of learning in life. We painted whatever we like in the class and Louise will come by to point out what we can do better on our own piece. I enjoyed the learning very much!

The pictures attached are my painting works since the beginning of learning until the last piece of Trakai Castle, within a total duration of 6 months (I guess so). Trakai Castle was given as a gift to my best friend when I worked in Ireland, she is Edita from Lithuania. I had a great Christmas holiday year 2008 with her family in Lithuania. She and her sister brought me and hubby to Trakai castle and the Hill of Crosses, another breath-taking tourist attraction http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_of_Crosses ......oh yes, and the unforgettable frozen lake. Being a Malaysian, I can only dream to see a frozen lake in my deep night dream but it came true in 2008 when I really walked on it.

Let's come back...to painting. Looking at these and think back....after more than a year, I strongly wish to start a new piece of oil painting this Saturday. I wish there will be no excuse this time.

Buy Cactus at Cameron Highlands

Blues of Blue Whale

This is me. Am I not adorable? I am harmless, why do you hunt me?
